#1: The Jim Morrisons
noiseperformances + recordings
2006-2008

Dark Psycho Doomnoise. Performance in collaboration with Wouter Jaspers.
A haunting mixture of deep, droning dark ambient,
thrilling walls of black noise, religious psychotheater and a poetic soul from
the sixties. The two unknown soldiers of The Jim Morrisons are a true phenomenon.
With an ungraspable performance they uncomfort the people in front of them. And
behind them. Is this a performance of sound or is the sound just a soundtrack to
confrontate people with an unknown psychologic theory? Is this a noisy new
remake of a George Romero zombiemovie or more feeling like a new nightmare by
David Lynch? Is this an analysis of the human kind or is this going far beyond
humanity? A near spiritual experience forces the nerves and mind of it’s viewer
and listener to give an answer, but it remains hard to catch that in words. The
Jim Morrisons are and will remain a mystery of a dark kind.
One answer can be given. A performance is not necessary to communicate the dark
emotions and ambiances. Their debut album ‘90476’ is full of uncatchable layers
of heavy distorted darkness where hell only can be jealous of. In fifty minutes
The Jim Morrisons proof that they are capable of producing a soundtrack with a
great range of dynamic sounds. From roaring noise via black ambient to
psychedelic spirituality. Their two word limited vocabulary leaves a hint to
what this all means behind everywhere they go, a message of great meaning by
their great inspirator: Wake Up!
“I believe in a long, prolonged, derangement of the senses in order to obtain
the unknown.”
-J. Morrison
“I think people resist freedom because they're afraid of the unknown. But it's
ironic. That unknown was once very well known. It's where our souls belong ...
The only solution is to confront them - confront yourself - with the greatest
fear imaginable. Expose yourself to yourself to your deepest fear. After that,
fear has no power, and fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.”
-J. Morrison
“I am interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos-especially activity
that seems to have no meaning. It seems to me to be the road toward freedom...
Rather than starting inside, I start outside and reach the mental through the
physical.”
-J. Morrison
“I like people who shake other people up and make them feel uncomfortable.”
-J. Morrison
“Violence isn't always evil. What's evil is the infatuation with violence.”
-J. Morrison
